HELLO!
Last Thursday, June 14, 2012 we had our first lecture about Earth Science.
We talked about the introduction of earth science, its branches, formation, layers etc.
so...
so here it is.. ^^
Earth Science encompasses all sciences that seek to understand earth, and also its neighbors in space.
It includes:
Geology (Science of the Earth) the study of the Earth.
Geology deals with the composition of Earth materials, Earth structures, and Earth processes. It is also concerned with the organisms of the planet and how the planet has changed over time.
Oceanography (Science of the Oceans
) the study of Earth's Oceans. The oceans cover most of our planet and are important resources for food and other commodities. They are increasingly being used as an energy source. The oceans also have a major influence on the weather and changes in the oceans can drive or moderate climate change.
Meteorology (Science of the Atmosphere)
the study of Atmosphere.
It is a very practical science because everyone is concerned about the weather. How climate changes over time in response to the actions of people is a topic of urgent worldwide concern.
Astronomy (Science of the Universe
) the study of the universe.
Formation of the earth. Most of the researchers conclude that earth and other planets formed at essentially the same time...... But just like the formation of the Earth and other planets stars take a long time to be be born. Stars are essentially formed from clouds of gas in space. These are nebulas. Nebular Hypothesis is the most widely accepted model explaining the formation and evolution of the Solar System. The solar system evolved from an enomous rotating cloud called the solar nebula.
Earth's four major spheres are: Atmosphere acts like a blanket and moderates surface temperature, Hydrosphere includes ocean, lakes, ice etc. consists of all the water above and below on earth's surface, Lithosphere rocky, outer shell of the earth and Biosphere areas where life can exist.
